Abstract:
This presentation will address racialized families' expectations for the Child Development Institute's culturally responsive after-school homework program. We will present the findings from four focus group discussions held with these families. Preliminary findings suggest that parents view the inclusion of students' cultural repertoires as a way to teach their children self-confidence, respect for their work and self-acceptance.
