Using Statistics Canada’s Youth in Transition Survey, which is a nationally representative longitudinal survey, I examine to what extent demographic background factors influence initial track placement in three provinces – Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. I also examine how flexible the tracking system is in these provinces.
